Freshmen Admission

Submit an Application.
Families of 8th grade students may download the MQT Application for 2015 or obtain a copy at the Open House on November 3, 2010 or on December 4, 2010 at the Entrance Exam. The deadline to submit the Application for Freshman Admission is Monday, January 10, 2011. There is a $50 application fee.

Two MQT Recommendation for 2015 must be completed and submitted by January 24, 2011. The forms must be completed by one of the following people:

    • one of the student’s current teachers of an academic subject (English, math, science, or social studies); or
    • the student’s school guidance counselor; or
    • the student’s school principal.

The recommendation forms must be submitted by school personnel directly to the Marquette Catholic High School Admissions Office by fax 219.871.2208 or by mail to Marquette Catholic High School, Attn: Admissions, 306 West Tenth Street, Michigan City, Indiana  46360.  The Admissions Office must receive the Recommendation Forms no later than Thursday, January 25, 2011.

In addition to the Marquette Catholic Application for Freshman Admission, the student and family must submit the following materials:
    • A copy of 7th grade report card and most up-to-date 8th grade report card;
    • 8th grade ISTEP+ scores (If the school does not offer the ISTEP+, we strongly suggest that you submit a copy of the most recent comparable test results.);
    • Additional educational evaluations and/or medical information, if applicable.

Take the Entrance Exam
All students applying for freshman admission at Marquette Catholic are required to take the High School Placement Test (8th grade students only).  During the 2010-2011 school year, the test will be offered on December 4, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. and will be administered to the first 75 students who register for the test.

There is a $20 fee to take the test, and parents must pre-register their 8th grader by submitting the Entrance Exam Registration Form.

Complete the Interview
The Admissions Office will schedule an interview for each applicant and his/her family. Interviews will take place in the evening on January 19, 2011. The interview allows us at Marquette Catholic to get to know the applicant and his/her family. Additionally, it provides the applicant and family the opportunity to get to know Marquette Catholic. After the interview, and after we have received all of the required materials, the applicant's file is complete.

All interviews will be completed by early March, and all information relevant to an applicant's file should be received no later than the end of January. In order to finalize enrollment, families must submit an official registration along with a registration fee. Registration for the Class of 2015 is set for March 7, 2011.
