Sister M. Dubala Academic Scholarship Recepients
Michigan City, Indiana – February 4, 2009 – Marquette Catholic High School’s principal, Mr. Jim White, announces today that Parker Buell, son of Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Buell and Kylie Moore, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Roy Moore are the 2009-2010 recipients of the Sister M. Cyril Dubala Academic Scholarship. Both students are currently in the 8th grade. Parker attends Queen of All Saints in Michigan City and Kylie attends St. Patrick School in Chesterton. Both students plan to attend Marquette Catholic High School in the Fall of 2009.
This scholarship is awarded to two students – one male and one female – who achieve the highest scores in the first testing group of Marquette’s Entrance Exam. The Sister M. Cyril Dubala Scholarship is a $1500 non-renewable tuition credit that is applied to the student’s freshman year’s tuition. Sister Cyril taught Chemistry and Physics at Marquette during the ‘80s. We chose to honor Sister Cyril by naming this scholarship after her as she is a true academic and remains committed to Catholic secondary education. Sr. Cyril is currently retired from teaching and resides with the Sisters of The Holy Cross in South Bend, Indiana.
Mr. White states, “We are very proud to be able to offer this scholarship to our incoming freshmen. We congratulate Parker and Kylie as this is a true testament to their academic achievements. We would also like to acknowledge the commitment of their parents and their respective schools toward the Catholic education of these students.”
