Happy Spirit Week Marquette Catholic

Dear Marquette Catholic Parents, Students, Teachers, Alumni & Friends,

Hello and welcome to Spirit Week!!!

As always, there is so much going on at school, I felt the need to update and inform all of you on our current events, projects, and recognitions. Below, I have simply "bulleted" information for your referral convenience. Most of the information is available at our web site in greater detail. www.marquette-hs.org

Announcements:
* Make Up Day: February 16th, 2009. We will be utilizing our regular schedule for Monday. Our only spirit event scheduled for the day is a “Simon Says” game planned for the lunch hour. A full schedule of events and adjusted schedules was sent last week in the Daily.

* PSAS: Financial Assistance Forms are due February 24th

* Winter Ball: Saturday, February 21st 8-11p.m. Lubeznik Center for the Arts. We are seeking chaperons. If interested, please contact Mr. Rob Smith at 873-1325. Also, we are asking all parents to speak with their child about appropriateness in dress and behavior. The rule for dress as always is, if it is bare, cover it up! There will be a permission slip for student/parents to review and sign prior to purchasing a ticket. Tickets are $10.00 single, $15.00 per couple. No same sex friends/couples permitted to purchase at couple rate. All school policies extend to extra-curricular activities.

* Freshman Interviews: February 23rd 5-8:30 Library (by appointment). There are almost 50 freshman scheduled for interviews on this date!!! The interview process is new to Marquette Catholic this year and is part of our recently adopted application process that includes an entrance exam, application, essay, and interview. The overall purpose is to connect with students and their family prior to the first day of school. This application process allows the school and student to communicate expectations, identify strengths and weakness for academic support and enrichment, and continue to address improving our college-like atmosphere at the school.

* Freshman Registration: March 9 & 11 (Uniforms will be sized at registration.) Registration and uniform sizing for students grades 10-12 will be announced next week.

* Spring Fling: March 21st-The Stardust Event Center-Blue Chip-contact Ms. Jenny Quinlan @ our Office of Advancement.

* ½ Page Planner Ads: Advertising space for our student planner is available. 4, ½ page ad spaces are available at 250.00 each. This has been noted in the Daily. If we do not have ads by the end of the week, we will cancel the student planner for the 2009-2010 academic year. We cannot afford to cover the entire cost from the school’s budget. The advertising space covers almost half the cost of the planners we were hoping to provide at no cost to all students and teachers.
