MARQUETTE CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL HIRES NEW SOCCER COACH

Michigan City, Indiana - July 20, 2010 - Marquette Catholic High School Principal James G. White and Athletic Director Kerrie Schludecker announce today that Marquette Catholic High School has hired Coach Mis' Mrak as the new men's varsity soccer coach for the Blazers.

Currently Coach Mrak is the director of the Youth Soccer Training Academy and from 1991 until 2006 was the Head Men's Soccer Coach at Division 1 Valparaiso University where he achieved the most wins in the school's history.  Prior to coaching at VU he was the head soccer coach at Wheeler High School and Boone Grove High School.  He currently is he only coach in the State of Indiana that holds a Only Coach in the State of Indiana to hold a USSF National A License, USSF National Youth License, USSF National Goalkeeper License. Coach Mis' was a Metro State Hall of Fame Nominee and in 1997, 1998 and 2002 was the Mid-Continent Coach of the Year.  Coach Mis' holds a Bachelors in Industrial Technology Education from Metro State College in Denver, Colorado.

Principal White states, "We have been blessed in recruiting some of the best coaches this year for our athletic program. Mis' is a proven Division I College Coach who will bring us to the next level in our men's soccer program."

"We have been able to put together one of the strongest teaching staffs in my career here at Marquette Catholic. 70% of our teachers have a Master's Degree or better. It has paid off for our students and their 100% college acceptance rate. Our focus now is to bring this kind of thinking to our athletic programs." Although the press and public often consider change in staff a challenge, I look at it as opportunity." Mis' presents us with an opportunity to be the best by developing our already competitive and growing soccer program."

"We thank Coach Aerts for bringing our program to where it is and wish him the best in completing his doctoral work. He has been an asset to our school and men's soccer program."

Ms. Schludecker states, "I am enthused to have Coach Mrak on board. He is very knowledgeable of the game and I believe his student-athletes will take to his strategic play very well and I am looking forward to working with Coach Mis' on advancing our school's mission and vision."
