HIGH SCHOOL FILLS ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
POSITION
Michigan City, Indiana
- June 24, 2010 - Marquette Catholic High School Principal James G. White
announces today that beginning July
15, 2010, Ms. Kerrie Schludecker will officially begin her new position at
Marquette Catholic as the Athletic Director and Building Supervisor. Ms.
Schludecker holds both a Bachelor's of Science in Sports Management with a
Minor in Business and a Master's of Science in Sports Administration. She
completed an internship at Valparaiso HS in their Athletic Department and
has facilitated and promoted several IHSAA events. In addition, she has
completed numerous service and fundraising opportunities in the field of
athletics including working for the NCAA Hall of Champions, the Albert Pujols
Family Foundation, and the Marshall Faulk Foundation.
As
a student athlete, Ms. Schludecker attended Marian University,
and was given the leadership role, by her coach and teammates, to be on the Student-Athlete
Advisory Board, to serve as the softball representative. As a member
of the board, she was able to work one-on-one with the Director of Athletics
and reconstruct the athletic department and its facilities. Also, while
at Marian University, she obtained the
highest honor for her program, the "Most Outstanding Sports Management
Award". She was also inducted into the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges
organization. At Marian, she earned a cumulative grade point average of
3.84, summa cum laude. As a softball player at
Marian, she received the following honors: Academic All-American,
All-Region, All-Conference, Conference All-Tournament Team, Conference Player
of the Week, Most Valuable Player, and the M-Club Award.
Ms.
Schludecker attended Roncalli High School, a Catholic high school in Indianapolis. She
graduated with an Academic Honors Diploma, perfect attendance all four years,
member of the National Honor Society, and German Club Vice President. She
played softball all four years and was on the 2001 2A State Championship team.
Personally, she was a two-time All-State, All-County, and All-Metro
player. She was nominated Most Valuable Player and Team Captain
by her coaches and teammates.
Mr. White states, "We are
thrilled to bring Kerrie on board. Her
education and experience and belief in Catholic education will only advance the
mission, vision and core values of our school in our athletic programs. Ms. Schludecker will bring a great deal to
this position and we anticipate that she will fit nicely into the Marquette family."
