THE FEAST of SAINT JOHN OGILVIE

John came of age when neither Catholics nor Protestants were willing to tolerate one another. Turning to Scripture, he found words that enlarged his vision. Although he became a Catholic and died for his faith, he understood the meaning of "small-c catholic," the wide range of believers who embrace Christianity. Even now he undoubtedly rejoices in the ecumenical spirit fostered by the Second Vatican Council and joins us in our prayer for unity with all believers.

Lenten Enrichment Series

Thursday, March 18th "From Jesus to Christ-the First Christians" will be the fourth of five Thursdays of a Lenten Enrichment Series at 1pm and 6:30pm hosted by St. Mary's and Sacred Heart Church in Michigan City.  The guided discussion features Part III of the PBS  Video series that examines the period after the First Revolt, tracing the development and impact of the Gospels, looking at the increasingly hostile relationship between the Christians and the Jews.  This challenges familiar assumptions and conventional notions about the origins of Christianity. Drawing upon new and sometimes controversial historical evidence suggesting that Jesus' followers, because of their diversity and the differences in their cultures and languages, looked at and interpreted Jesus and this teachings in many different ways.  Handicapped accessible.  Each session will be followed with a time for discussion, coffee and cookies.  No fee.  All are welcome to attend the hour long spiritual presentation.  Please call the rectory office for the location and how many will be attending at 874.7231.

With Prayerful Thoughts
hands at Mass

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession, was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother, to thee I come, before thee I stand sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate! despise not my petitions, but, in thy mercy, hear and answer me.   Amen.
