FEAST of SAINT ROSE of LIMA

It is easy to dismiss excessive penances of the saints as the expression of a certain culture or temperament. But a woman wearing a crown of thorns may at least prod our consciences. We enjoy the most comfort-oriented life in human history. We eat too much, drink too much, use a million gadgets, fill our eyes and ears with everything imaginable. Commerce thrives on creating useless needs to spend our money on. It seems that when we have become most like slaves, there is the greatest talk of "freedom." Are we willing to discipline ourselves in such an atmosphere?

"If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter into life maimed or crippled than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into fiery Gehenna" (Matthew 18:8-9).

Electric Keyboards Needed
The Piano and Electronic Keyboard class is in need of a few more instruments.  In this class, we use the keyboards to learn music theory.  We would be most appreciative if you have an electronic piano keyboard that you would be willing to loan us for the school year.  Instruments are locked safely in a closet except when being used in our daily class.  If this is something you would be able to help up out with - please email Mrs. Brenda. Thank you!

Adult Clay gives people with no previous experience the opportunity to learn hand building techniques. All materials and firings are included.

Clay Halloween Workshop is an opportunity for families to collaborate or individually construct Halloween themed ceramic objects. The second session is designed for glazing or painting. Schedule allows two weeks for the objects to be bisque fired.

Youth Day of Caring
The junior class spent the day yesterday at the Indiana Dunes State Park completing an invasive species removal project.  The project was part of the United Way Day of Caring.  The staff was very impressed with the amount of sassafras seedlings the students were able to remove.  They saved the staff about 2 weeks of work.  Great job Juniors! Photos forthcoming!

We will be adding more photos as they become available.
