SCHOOL
PHILOSOPHY
Marquette High School
serves its mission as a private, co-educational high school representing the
Catholic Church within the Diocese of Gary. The school extends to students
of all faiths the principles of Christian living and seeks to develop in
students a faith response to God and also an awareness of such ideals as
truth and honor. The school promotes academic excellence, creativity, and
leadership development within each student.
Marquette builds its philosophy on the
premise that a person, made in the image of God, is a citizen of two worlds
- earth and heaven. Each person is destined for God's kingdom as his final
end, and it is in society that he develops and works toward this end. He
seeks to discover his own purpose in life and then works to fulfill that
calling. Everyone has an inalienable right to an education corresponding to
his proper destiny and suited to his God-given talents and background.
However, this education must also pave the way to brotherly association and
cooperation with other people, in the hope that genuine and lasting peace,
unity, and prosperity may be attained on earth.
