Tuition Assistance
Since its founding in 1886, Marquette Catholic High School has supported its students and their families with assistance. Integral to the mission of the school since its earliest days, has been a commitment to provide a high quality Catholic, secondary education for young men and women from across Northwest Indiana. The school attempts to make it possible for all qualified students, regardless of family income, to attend Marquette Catholic High School.
Marquette Catholic High School makes every effort to make a Catholic education affordable to students by allocating funds for need-based tuition assistance. Financial assistance comes from three sources; the Diocese of Gary, the Marquette Foundation and private donors. Over $50,000 was awarded to families in need for the 2009-2010 academic year. Currently, we partner with over 27% of our families.
While we understand that it is a sacrifice for any family to send their children to a Catholic high school, all Marquette families are expected to make a serious financial commitment to pay their child's tuition.
There is no standard formula for determining the amount of tuition assistance awarded to a family. Each case is considered individually, assessing various factors.
The Basics
The tuition assistance application becomes available in mid-January and is downloadable from www.psas.org or in paper form in Marquette Catholic High School's main office. This application must be filled out by the parents or guardians of the student, and then submitted to their parish office along with a copy of the family's tax returns. If the parent or guardian is not a parishioner of a parish within the Diocese of Gary the form is then submitted directly to PSAS.
Several factors are taken into consideration when looking at each application - the level of participation in your home parish, children's tuition, extraordinary family expenses and family situations. Once PSAS completes their evaluation, the results are sent to the school and are reviewed by the Financial Aid committee.
All information is held in the strictest confidence.
Assistance packages come in the form of grants and are applied directly to the family's tuition.
