Conversation Partner Program
Conversation Partner Program
At Marquette Catholic High School, we believe some of the most meaningful learning happens through relationships. Our Conversation Partner Program brings students together to build friendships, strengthen communication skills, share cultures, and help every member of our school community feel that they belong.
The program pairs National Honor Society students with international students for regular, informal conversation and connection. Conversation Partners provide a friendly face and a welcoming presence while helping international students become more comfortable with conversational English and everyday life at MQT.
More Than a Conversation
Being a Conversation Partner is not about tutoring or teaching English. It is about friendship, hospitality, and connection.
Partners might talk about school, hobbies, sports, music, family traditions, food, or life in their home countries. They may attend a MQT event together, share lunch, introduce one another to friends, or simply spend time talking and getting to know each other.
Through these experiences, both students have the opportunity to learn. International students gain confidence using English in a relaxed setting and develop stronger connections within the MQT community. Their Conversation Partners gain a broader understanding of the world, experience another culture firsthand, and develop important skills in communication, empathy, and leadership.
Living Our Mission
The Conversation Partner Program reflects Marquette Catholic High School's commitment to forming a community where each student is known, valued, and welcomed.
We are called to recognize the dignity of every person and to welcome others with kindness and generosity. Conversation Partners put that calling into action by extending friendship, practicing hospitality, and helping make MQT a place where students from around the world can truly say “You Belong Here.”
A conversation can become a friendship.
A friendship can open a window to another culture.
And one welcoming student can make Marquette Catholic High School feel like home.
